What is Bullying?
Bullying can have varying meanings depending on a person's interpretation and on the type of bullying. A general definition of bullying is a repeated aggressive behavior towards an individual with the intent of harming that individual physically or psychologically. The bully, or the person intentionally inflicting harm on another, carries out negative actions through either physical contact, verbal assault, and other indirect ways such as exclusion.
This demonstrates an imbalance of power between two or more people in which those exposed to the negative actions result in having difficulty responding in self-defense. The reality is only made worse by the fact that these acts of bullying are hardly ever fueled by a direct reason to target a specific person, other than they may appear to look weak. |
