School Survey
Survey Conducted at Animo Watts.
In our 12th grade Expository Reading and Writing Course, we are examining the issue of bullying. During this time, we have read several articles that detailed this issue and the various effects that it has on different groups of people. Additionally, we created a survey to examine these issues on a school-wide level. The purpose of this survey is to analyze students' understanding of bullying at the high school level. This survey helps to understand how commonplace bullying is and how students & staff respond to bullying on a regular basis. This survey was conducted on 25 students and consisted of 16 questions asking about the prevalence of bullying as well as the responses from students and staff (in any). 9th grade: 1 11th grade: 2 12th grade: 22 Male: 14 Female: 11 88% of students reported feeling safe on campus 56% of students reported to not know the school policy on bullying 88% of students reported to have been victims of bullying 44% of students reported to have bullied others 56% of students reported to be bystanders in a bullying situation 56% of students reported being bullied at least once a week 32% of students reported being bullied at least twice a week 24% of students reported being bullied more than twice a week Common Responses from non-bystanders:

Conclusions There is a variety of contradictions and overlap throughout this survey. 88% of students feel safe at school, but the same amount have also been bullied at some point. This shows that people may not have a full understanding of bullying or have a lesser exposure as victims to the point where they consider it negligible or a part of everyday life. |
